At 19:00 on November 1, 2022, Faculty of International Studies held an online expert demonstration meeting for the master’s degree application for the second-level discipline of “International and Regional Studies”, and invited academic experts to demonstrate the feasibility of the independently adding of “International and Regional Studies” as a second-level discipline outside the catalogue.

On the meeting, Dean Zhang Jiarui introduced the necessity, urgency and feasibility of application for a master’s degree for the second-level discipline of “International and Regional Studies” based on the current situation of the discipline construction of the school in recent years, as well as the ideas for the future construction of this discipline. Members of the expert group had heated discussions on the training objectives, research directions, curriculum settings, faculty building, highlights and characteristics of the subject setting of “International and Regional Studies”, and then provided valuable guidance.

The application for the master’s degree of the second-level discipline of “International and Regional Studies” was another important measure taken by our school to improve the discipline system after our school's successful application for the master's degree of the second-level discipline of “Translation Studies”. Dean Zhang appreciated the participating experts for their opinions and suggestions. The school would fully study the opinions and suggestions put forward by the experts, and gather strength while improving the discipline layout, promoting the development of disciplines, and improving the quality of discipline construction, so as to strengthen the construction of discipline connotation, improve the quality of talents training, and help the school’s “foreign languages and literature” first-class discipline construction.
